An album to unleash the romantic in you!

In
September 2000, EMI Classics releases Songs of Love, a timeless compilation
featuring 14 hit tracks drawn from Plácido Domingo's immensely successful
albums De mi alma latina (From My Latin Soul), Volumes I and II, and Be
My Love. The selections include popular Spanish, English and Italian songs,
among them En Aranjuez con tu amor, Jealousy, El cóndor pasa, Aquellos
ojos verdes, Love Story, Be My Love, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and the
evergreen O sole mio. A Spanish version, Canciones de Amor, with only one
song in English, is available for distribution in Spanish-speaking territories.
The album once again proves Plácido Domingo’s incredible versatility connecting with audiences from all walks of life and varied musical tastes. He is as comfortable in the roles of Otello, Alfredo, Rodolfo or Don José, as much as he is singing Zarzuela and Mariachi songs, popular music or as part of the eponymous Three Tenors. The irresistible combination of his magnificent voice and engaging personality thrills every type of audience and makes Plácido Domingo a true musical ambassador, whose performances, irrespective of the musical genre, project the passion of the music.

Domingo's performance as Otello in Vienna a few years ago was greeted with
such a torrent of applause that he was forced to make over 100 curtain
calls, lasting an unprecedented 80 minutes, before the audience would let
him go home. It typifies the excitement generated between this extraordinary
tenor and his audiences at virtually every performance.

Plácido
Domingo is an artist with charisma to burn, distinguished, handsome, sensuous,
charming and witty. Everytime he sings, out soars the unmistakable, virile,
resonant voice that has captured the hearts of millions of people the world
over. Today, more than thirty years since he was catapulted into the front
ranks of world tenordom, Domingo is still at the peak of his powers.
The year 2000 celebrates 30 years of these wonderfully varied recordings by Plácido Domingo on EMI Classics. In July, the anniversary month, the label released Wagner Love Duets with Domingo and Deborah Voigt, as well as a luxurious box set (Plácido Domingo - 30 Years with EMI) embodying 13 complete Operas, as well as his Viennese operetta CD, Vienna, City of My Dreams. |
